Shelter From Wind

Wind can do a tremendous amount of harm to plants.

Not only does it buffetthe leaves and cause physical injury, it also brings about excessive transpiration with the result that the plants find difficulty in keeping the foliage turgid.

Cloches give ideal protection against drying ground wind leaving the plants undisturbed. No excessive transpiration takes place and the rate of growth and succulence are increased.

It is important to remember that cloches give complete protection from wind. It is not necessary therefore to site them in a sheltered spot. Cloches themselves are resistant to wind and there is no danger of their being damaged provided they are put down evenly on the ground.

An advantage of our cloches is their cast-iron construction, which gives them enough weight to withstand the toughest storms.
