Workshop & Fulfilment Lead
Full-time | 4–5 days per week | Frome, Somerset
About Claverton
Founded in 2020, Claverton is a founder-led garden brand inspired by the enduring romance of the English garden. From Victorian-inspired cloches to plant supports, terracotta and garden hoses, we make beautifully crafted pieces rooted in traditional forms and enduring materials, with the belief that even the most practical objects should be beautiful.
Some of our pieces are made in our Frome workshop, while others are made for us by a small number of craftspeople and specialist makers. Every piece that leaves the workshop carries our name, so the quality of what goes out the door matters enormously to us.
The Role
We are looking for a practical, reliable and highly organised Workshop & Fulfilment Lead to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our workshop and fulfilment operation.
This is a hands-on, largely self-directed role at the centre of the business. You will own the packing and fulfilment of customer orders, quality checking of our products, stock management and general workshop organisation — working quickly and carefully to make sure everything that leaves Frome is exactly as it should be.
Alongside this, you will be responsible for keeping the workshop running smoothly — from finishing work and processing returns to managing packing materials, workshop sundries and stock records.
You will report directly to the Founder and work closely with our Operations Lead, while largely managing your own day-to-day workload once up to speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Packing and fulfilling customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Quality-checking every product before it is dispatched, with a genuinely sharp eye for detail
- Preparing orders to a high standard, ensuring products are well protected and beautifully presented
- Using our fulfilment and warehouse management software to send orders, print shipping labels and manifests, and track inventory
- Carrying out finishing work and practical workshop tasks
- Processing returns and replacement parts
- Keeping the workshop tidy, organised and well-stocked
- Managing stock levels across finished products, packaging materials, spare parts and workshop sundries
- Ordering packaging, sundries and workshop materials when required
- Very occasionally helping with nearby collections or drop-offs, where needed
- Flagging quality, stock or fulfilment issues quickly and clearly
- Suggesting practical improvements to make the workshop more efficient as the business grows
About You
Above all, you are reliable, punctual and highly organised. You take pride in keeping things running properly, notice what needs doing and can be trusted to manage your day-to-day workload without constant supervision.
You are practical, conscientious and methodical, with a sharp eye for detail and a willingness to get stuck in. You enjoy hands-on work, care about doing things properly and understand that pace matters — but never at the expense of quality.
You do not need to come from a luxury or garden background, but you do need to have real pride in your work and in maintaining a tidy, efficient and well-run workshop.
Skills & Experience
- Some warehouse, manual, fulfilment or practical work experience
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of personal responsibility
- Highly organised, tidy and methodical
- Comfortable with manual handling — some of our pieces are heavy cast iron, and this is an active role with much of the day spent moving around the workshop
- Good IT literacy — comfortable using fulfilment and warehouse management software to send orders, print shipping labels and manifests, track stock levels, update inventory records and order materials when needed
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own workload with minimal day-to-day supervision
- Experience packing fragile, heavy or high-value products desirable
- A natural eye for process improvement desirable
- Experience in a small business, workshop, warehouse, garden, interiors or product led environment desirable
- A full, valid UK driving licence desirable
Details
- Permanent, 4–5 days per week, based at our workshop in Frome, Somerset. There is some flexibility on working pattern and timings.
- The role involves manual handling, periods of lone working and the majority of the day spent moving around the workshop.
- Start date as soon as possible
- 28 Days Holiday per year
- £28,000 - £30,000 salary, depending on experience.
To Apply
Send your CV and a short cover note to jobs@clavertoncloches.com, telling us a little about your relevant workshop, fulfilment, warehouse or practical experience.
Formal qualifications are far less important to us than reliability, care, common sense, initiative and a genuine pride in doing things well.
